About the Pianiste Magazine collection

Around 2010, Jean-François Zygel asked me to come and shoot a short instructional video for Pianiste Magazine. So I improvised an arrangement of a standard and analyzed the harmonic content. It was published, and it was so successful that I then recorded a new video every month.  Then I posted everything on YouTube, and the audience (46,000 subscribers and over 7 million views!) asked me to transcribe my choruses, with phrasing, fingering, and chord charts.

While the videos are still free on YouTube, these transcriptions are available for purchase here, along with accompanying MIDI files. The level is quite advanced; at the time, I was improvising without thinking twice! Since then, I have written extensively for beginners and intermediate players, which is meticulous work. I talk a lot about harmony and arrangement for solo piano in these short but intense videos.

About the Collection: The Piano Lesson

After the series on Pianiste Magazine, I filmed new lessons at home, which were more comprehensive and in-depth, with various keyboards on screen and more sophisticated teaching materials.
