Motto-Portrait is a concept by painter Pascale Lef.

The artist creates portraits based on a photo and words or mottos representing the person.
These unique works can be made to order or as a live performanceduring which the face and text gradually appear before the audience's eyes.

Ideal as personalized gift (birthday, wedding, retirement, tribute, bar mitzvah, etc.), each portrait combines images and words to reveal the essence of a person, namely: Identity, powerful phrases, slogans, motivations, and above all, what we want to remember, reveal, repeat, recount, and convey about it...

Tell your loved ones how much you love them and why, in pictures!

Video Concert Performance - November 30, 2025

Option 1:

Order a Motto Portrait created by Pascale Lef:

The Motto portrait order is placed as follows: Once you have paid for your purchase, all you need to do is provide the quotes and good-quality photos of the person to be "portrayed." After validation, Pascale will send you an agreement with delivery dates. Please allow approximately one month for delivery.

Option 2:

Performance Motto-Portrait by Pascale Lef:

Offer a unique artistic experience: Pascale creates a portrait live based on photos and words or mottos provided in advance, representing the person on a vertically stretched silk canvas. Backlit, the silk reveals the colors of the ink like a living stained-glass window, creating a poetic and immersive atmosphere.

Writing that becomes a face

The text, dedicated to the person being honored, can be prepared in advance or co-created with the audience. Under the artist's guidance, everyone can participate by dictating or writing a few words directly on the canvas, making the work deeply personal.

A tailor-made performance

The duration of the performance is entirely adapted to the event. Pascale modulates speed, space, and movement according to the venue and program.

A lasting work

After the performance, the canvas is fixed to restore its texture and ensure its durability. The original work is then returned to the buyer. Signed and numbered giclée prints (or screen prints) are also available in A3 or A4 formats.

A memorable souvenir

The Motto Portrait is an elegant way to preserve a musical, theatrical, or ceremonial moment. A work that captures emotions, wishes, and memories, like an open guest book.

Why offer a pictorial performance?

To preserve the visual and sensory trace of a musical, theatrical, or ceremonial moment. A work that captures both the moment and the words—like a living, open guestbook.

Formats:

• Original performance:

43–48 inches x 54 inches

• Giclées available:

A3 or A4 formats

The photo opposite (click on it) was the inspiration for an order to celebrate a wedding. The dress code was that each guest wore a single color of clothing from head to toe. This color was then used by everyone to write their wishes for happiness to the newlyweds. Size 190 cm x 140 cm. The couple enjoyed scuba diving!

About Pascale Lef:

Paintings - Performances:

Pascale is a French-Dutch multidisciplinary visual artist based in Amsterdam, who graduated from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 2016. She has a close relationship with music and sound, both in her work and in her life. One of her works, a 13-meter-long graphic sound installation entitled "Manifesto," was exhibited at the COBRA Museum of Modern Art in Amsterdam in 2017.

She also inspired writer, poet, and punk rock icon Patty Smith, who acquired one of her engravings entitled "Liberté": a work that combines words, sound frequency lines, and poetry. Pascale plays the piano and won first prize in the Nerini competition in Paris twice, at the ages of 10 and 12.

It is interesting to note that she also enjoys traditional painting techniques, such as oil painting, tempera, and batik on silk. In these works, her artistic evolution constantly highlights the importance of bodily perception in the final result.
